Harvest Operations is owned by Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC).
They are involved in both conventional and oil sands production.
Oil sands are a type of unconventional petroleum deposit. They are a mixture of sand, water, and a thick, heavy oil called bitumen. The bitumen is so thick and sticky that it is not usually possible to pump it out of the ground in its natural state. It must be heated or diluted with other substances before it can be moved.
Conventional operations are focused on areas around Deep Basin, Cecil, Hay River, Red Earth, and Rocky Mountain House.
Oil sands operations are focused on BlackGold Oil Sands Project which is centered around Conklin, Alberta. The main method of extraction is SAGD.
