Enerplus operates several oil properties in Alberta and Saskatchewan where they use waterflooding to increase oil production beyond what is possible with the conventional production techniques.
Waterflooding is the injection of water into an oil or gas reservoir to increase production. The water displaces the oil and gas and pushes them to the production wells, where they can be extracted.
Enerplus also produces oil from US properties centered around Williston Basin and Marcellus Shale. Currently, most of their production comes from US fields.
